Frequently asked questions
Everything about preparing for the Goethe exam with Sprachheld.
Is Sprachheld free?
Yes. You can create a free account and start right away — placement test, lessons, vocabulary review, and a monthly allowance of AI mock-exam grading and speaking practice. Heavy users can upgrade later.
Which exam does it prepare me for?
The Goethe-Zertifikat, from A1 to C2. Each level has mock exams in the official format with the four parts: Lesen (reading), Hören (listening), Schreiben (writing) and Sprechen (speaking).
Are the mock exams actually graded?
Yes. Reading and listening are auto-graded against the answer key. Writing and speaking are graded by AI with written feedback and a section score, so you know where you stand before exam day.
Can I practise speaking German?
Yes. Berti, the AI speaking partner, holds spoken German conversations with you by voice and corrects you as you go — useful for the Sprechen part and for everyday confidence.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Sprachheld runs in your web browser on phone, tablet or computer. Create an account and you're in.
What if German isn't usually taught in my language?
Explanations, corrections and word translations are shown in your native language, while the German example sentences and exam tasks stay in German.
How is this different from a general language app like Duolingo?
Sprachheld is built specifically for the Goethe exams: full exam-format mock tests, auto-grading for all four parts, a study plan tied to your exam date, and a readiness gauge per skill — not just streaks and vocabulary.
